Conserving waterCost: $5-50 per shower headReplace your shower head with a low flow unit. An average shower with a "normal" shower head can use over 80 gallons. You can cut this in half with the appropriate shower head. Don't worry they still have an invigorating spray and come in many styles. Heads like the one shown can be shut off with a button while you are soaping up, then re-started at the same temperature. Use the "energy saver" mode(s) on your dish washer and only use the pot cleaner feature when needed. Rather than washing dishes by hand frequently, use the dishwasher and run only full loads this will save a lot of water. Turn off the water after you wet your toothbrush. There is no need to keep the water running while brushing your teeth. Just wet your brush and fill a glass for mouth rinsing. Be sure to fix toilet leaks as soon as they are detected. Toilet repair parts are inexpensive and simple to install. Water leaks can waste gallons a day. |
